1. The volume of your goods
The biggest factor is how much space your things take on the vehicle. Movers measure this in cubic feet (cft). At ShiftEro every item in the estimator has a fixed size - a 3-seater sofa is 54 cft, a double-door fridge 29 cft, a washing machine about 10 cft and a kitchen carton 3 cft.
That is why a quote based on "2BHK" alone is a guess. Two 2BHK homes can differ by a whole vehicle load. A room-by-room item list (or a survey visit) gives a real number.
2. Dismantling furniture
Dismantled furniture takes far less space. In ShiftEro's estimator a bed takes 42 cft dismantled but 100 cft fully assembled, and a dining table 18 cft against 29 cft. Asking for beds and tables to be dismantled can bring the volume - and the vehicle size - down noticeably.
3. Distance and route
A move within Ahmedabad and a move to another state are priced differently: intercity moves add fuel, tolls, driver days and extra wrapping for multi-day transit. Within the city, the distance between the two addresses matters less than access at each end.
4. Floors, lifts and access
- Floor number at both addresses, and whether there is a working lift big enough for furniture.
- Upper floors without a usable lift may need rope-pulling for large items such as sofas and almirahs.
- How close the vehicle can park - narrow society lanes or no-entry timings mean more carrying.
5. Extra services you choose
Common add-ons are quoted separately so you only pay for what you need:
- Unpacking at the new home
- AC uninstall and reinstall, electrical work
- Carpentry beyond standard dismantling
- Move-in or move-out cleaning
- Storage between two homes
6. Your moving date

How to get an accurate quote quickly
- List your items room by room, or send photos of each room on WhatsApp.
- Mention the floor and lift at both addresses, and any items that need special care (glass, temple, gym equipment).
- Say which extras you want (unpacking, AC, carpenter) so they're in the price.
- For large homes, book a free survey visit so nothing is missed.
- Ask for the final price in writing and a GST bill - a genuine company gives both.
