Worked example: a typical 2BHK list
Take a home with a 3-seater sofa, centre table, TV and TV cabinet, two beds (dismantled) with mattresses, a 2-door and a 3-door almirah, a double-door fridge, washing machine, a dining table (dismantled) with four chairs, ten kitchen cartons, two split ACs, a dressing table and four suitcases.
Added up with the sizes above, that comes to about 461 cft (around 13 cubic metres). If the two beds were moved fully assembled instead, the same home would need about 577 cft - roughly a quarter more space, just from two beds.
Your own list will differ - this is an example, not a standard 2BHK. It shows why an item list gives a far better quote than a flat "2BHK rate".
Tips to keep the volume down
- Dismantle beds, dining tables and wardrobes where possible - it is the single biggest saving.
- Sell or donate what you won't use; old coolers and spare mattresses take a lot of space.
- Pack loose items into cartons - cartons stack, loose items don't.
- Add up your list in our online estimator to see the total before you ask for a quote.
